On May 15, the Santa Cruz Scottish Rite Club hosted members of the Santa Cruz Job Daughters Bethel at our monthly breakfast meeting.  Senior Princess Shannon Swanson and Junior Princess Julia Fleming along with their adult leader Tami MacDonald presented an interesting and entertaining program on the mission of Jobs Daughters and some of their bethel activities. They informed the gathering of the June Grand Bethel and their plans for participation in this event.  Proceeds from the breakfast donations and additional donations made by members were presented to our guests to assist them in their trip to Grand Bethel.  We all felt good about being able to support this important and vital youth group.
Two graduating seniors from San Lorenzo Valley High School in Felton, Ca were presented Scottish Rite Scholarships during the Senior Honors Night on May 24. Sarah Mount and Kristin Hayes are the very deserving recipients of these scholarships from the San Jose Scottish Rite Foundation and the California Scottish Rite Foundation respectively.  Chuck Cowden our club secretary was present to congratulate the young ladies on these awards and numerous other awards they received that evening. He extended invitations to Sarah and Kristin to join to us for breakfast, as their academic schedules permit, asked they keep us informed of their progress and allow us to be of any assistance we might be able to provide as they pursue on their university studies.  More details on the accomplishments of these great students can be found elsewhere in the Rite Word.
Our next meeting is on June 19. Please make your reservations for the breakfast as early as you can. The club will be dark in July and August and then resume our regular schedule on September 18.
Club president, Kerem Kapkin, extends his sincere thanks to all who assisted in preparing and presenting the May breakfast.
