Shades of St. Paddy's Day—Scottish Rite's March 11 monthly meeting and dinner, with vibrant greens, offset by bright, white tablecloths decorating the dining room, provided our members, their wives, escorts and friends with a simple but sophisticated Saint Patrick's Day theme.
Many of us were wearing the traditional green, and were observed chatting with friends as they sampled  the food and beverage offerings now being offered at the Scottish Rite Center at the monthly dinner meetings.  The hors d'oeuvre table and beverage bar has proved to be a popular attraction with our members.
The menu for the evening consisted of Shamrock Salad ( baby spinach with roasted vegetables (California fresh and local, of course)); hearty Irish Beef Stew; spinach-stuffed breast of chicken with mustard sauce; fluffy, nicely flavored rice; baby carrots, cabbage and butter; freshly baked potato rolls and sourdough French bread.
Irish coffee was available and dessert was a bursting-with-flavor bread pudding with whiskey sauce--all for only $ 12.00 per person.
If you are passionate about very tasty food, enjoy good fellowship and are looking for a place to dine on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, attend the monthly meeting and dinner at the San Jose Scottish Rite Center.  If you plan on attending, telephone Mary Lou Johnson at the Center --408.978.7483 for dinner reservations.
