How abundant are the generous blessings of the Grand Architect of the Universe!  May we all become messengers giving the great gift of our degrees to the worthy and well qualified, so that they, in turn, will express their gratitude by bringing in more new members.  As we absorb the degrees of our great and ancient Order, we are taught to walk in the footsteps of the Lord.  How can we all repay the Fraternity for this great bounty and benefit they have given us?  By having a fixed and steady purpose to offer the same bounty and benefits to other good men, so they too can benefit from the endless goodness our grand and great Fraternity has to offer.
The implements of our Craft are no longer employed in actual labor.  They have become symbols of speculative truth, and speak to the mind of laws and duties the observance of which will render our lives pure and harmonious and our characters firm and symmetrical.  We may not regret the change.  It was a modification demanded by the progress of civilization and the improved conditions of society.  Throughout the world Masonry is today doing a nobler work than when ancient craftsmen built their stateliest columns.  The Masonic institution itself is more wonderful than any edifice ever constructed from the perishable materials of earth.  Masonry has survived wars and revolutions, and is now silently ascending to loftiest planes of usefulness.  We must always remember that Masonry draws its strength and resources from the deep sea of human sympathies, and employs them to redress the wrongs and relieve the sorrows of humanity.
Our labor should now be in the building of our membership.  It is a wonderful feeling to give our gift of knowledge and understanding to others and continue to teach them.  Towards that end, this month San Jose Scottish Rite will initiate new Scottish Rite Masons through the 14th degree.  Let us work together to find additional worthy 3rd degree Masons in the coming months, so that we may complete the entire Reunion cycle this coming fall.
