Among the most precious items we have in life are our memories. When we travel to that place not made with hands eternal in the heavens, we leave behind memories of love for others. Our brave soldiers of the American Revolution, the Spanish-American War, the two World Wars, Korea,
Vietnam, Iraq and now  Afghanistan should never be forgotten because they defended our country with love.
In our Masonic Scottish Rite degrees we are taught to bring blessings into the lives of others and, that by doing so, our own lives are blessed. The 15th Degree, Knight of the East of the Sword or the Eagle, tells us it is our duty to rebuild. Have you ever wondered why after a bitter war with Germany and Japan, the victors helped them to rebuild? Reread your 15th degree carefully and you will realize the lessons of fidelity to trust, honor, persevere and remain constant despite difficulties and discouragement.
Even more potent today than at any period of the world's history, are the instruments for good. Let each Craftsman realize his responsibility, his high privilege, in these earnest days, of bearing some humble part in working out great designs that look to the uplifting of mankind. With such aids and inspiration the world will continue to grow better over time and the sum of human happiness will be increased.
Truly, the future is resplendent with hope. We can be true Masons by following our leaders, spreading brotherly love and bringing warmth and cheer into the lives of all those with whom we come into contact. The destiny of our great and ancient Fraternity is in our hands. For the sake of those who follow us and all those generations yet unborn, let us preserve our Fraternity for all time to come. We must look at every brother with love and respect in what we may learn from him. Let us acknowledge its truth, abide by its Masonic teachings, and ever proclaim how proud we are to be Scottish Rite Masons.

God Bless you all,
Durward C. Ayre 32° KCCH, MC
