News from the Clubs:

On January 31, 2010 the following officers were installed to serve in 2010 for the SLO Scottish Rite Club:
President – Bro. James F. Smith, 32º, K.C.C.H.
1st Vice-President – Bro. Kenneth J. Brokamp, 32º
2nd Vice-President – Bro. Robert M. Ellis, 32º
Treasurer – Bro. Jerome H. Boxer, 32º, K.C.C.H.
Secretary – Bro. Benjamin D.V. Minter, 32º, K.C.C.H.
Chaplain – Bro. Willard J. Strong, 32º, K.C.C.H.
Almoner – Bro. William P. Mills, 32º
The installation of officers was presided over by Illustrious Robert Winter, 33º; the Master of Ceremonies was Illustrious Roger Bibb, 33º.
The time during and surrounding the dinner was marked by lively discussion, greetings from both new and old faces, and good fellowship. Of special interest were the lovely children who were greeting everyone as they served soda and munchies as well as assisting to serve the dinner. It was overheard that the children were asking for IDs as people were receiving their soda – which brought a smile to all our faces.
The highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of a $250 donation from the SLO Scottish Rite Club to Ill. Robert Winter on behalf of the Rite Care Center. Ill. Winter not only explained the wonderful work performed at the center, affecting the children as well as the families involved, but also movingly told of the success stories achieved at the center – children speaking for the first time in years; mothers and fathers being emotionally moved at the progress of their children; and the family bonding that takes place through the work of the professional therapists. It makes us all proud to be a Scottish Rite Mason.
All in all, it was a wonderful and memorable afternoon!
