To my Scottish Rite Family

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!!!  May the Great Architect grant you love, friendship, and joy.  It’s hard to believe that my year as Wise Master of the San Jose Chapter of Rose Croix is coming to an end.  The old axiom that time sure flies when you’re having fun is absolutely true.  And I have had a lot of fun this year.  It’s been a great year for me and I am extremely grateful for the support you’ve given me during this time.  And now that year is coming to an end, and it’s time to pass the baton, it’s good to be able to pass it in to capable hands.  I’m sure Wolfgang will do a great job.  I hope all of you can make it to our Installation of Officers on January 28th.  And once I’m out of the East, I’m not going anywhere...I’ll still be in attendance at our dinners, events, and meetings.  I am 100% sincere when I refer to you as part of my Masonic Family.  Thank you!
We have a good core of officers coming in for the ensuing year and I know that you’ll provide them with the same support and enthusiasm that you’ve been showing all year.  And we’ve been able to add new members this year and it’s clear that there are more on the way.  We’re growing and this is good news.
I encourage all of our members, especially those who may not have been here for awhile, to come down and participate.  The more you put into it, the more you get out of it….a universal truth that has made itself clear to me this term.  So I encourage you to step up and be involved.  You can and do make a difference.  Cardinal John Henry Newman said, “A man would do nothing if he waited until he could do it so well that no one would find fault with what he has done.”  Come down and help.  Henry van Dyke said, “Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best.”  And if it’s been awhile and you’re afraid no one will know you or that you won’t remember what you need to, to participate, set those fears aside.  We are “family” and you’re welcome here.  With this assurance on my part, will you come down???  And if you still have fears, call me.  (408) 224-9431.  Brother Mark Twain once said, “To get the full value of a joy you must have someone to divide it with.”  Come let us divide joy with each other.
Thank you for those that helped with and participated in the Clinic’s Holiday Party.  We should all be very proud of the difference that our clinic makes in the lives of so many young people and their families.  I want to extend a special thank you to Angela for all she does to make our events a success.  We are lucky to have her!
I hope all of you had a Merry Christmas and a joyous holiday season.  As we begin the new year, I will remind you that, with the new year, comes a whole new set of possibilities.  I find that this is something to be excited about!
Again, I would like to say that it’s been an awesome year and that it’s been an honor and privilege to serve this Chapter.  Thanks...and may the holiday season bring to you more blessings than you ever thought possible. Peace be with you.
