The first phase of our Fall Reunion was conducted on Saturday, 25 October, with a most outstanding Fourth Degree performance! The Degree Director, Bro. Randy Downey and his cast, Bro. Bud Ramsey, Bro. Jack Harris, Bro. John Matteroli, Bro. Lee Milde, and Ill Bob Winter, have set us on a path to have an excellent Fall Reunion! Many favorable comments were made regarding the degree; many said that it was the best fourth degree that we have ever had!
Bro. Dan Doornbos did his usual outstanding discussions and conferral of the orally communicated degrees! Great support was received from Bro. Robert Rowan, Mary Lou Johnson, Ill. Roger Bibb, Bro. Ken Zuhr, Bro. Richard Fisher, Bro. Ken Justus, Bro. Jack Harris, Bro. Chuck Cowden and Phillip Martinez.
The degrees that are being given are the new degrees, which were revised for the following reasons:
Preservation of the content of the Albert Pike ritual.
  1. Retention of historical and ritualistic validity.
  2. Deletion of repetitive passages.
  3. Clarity of meaning and purpose.
  4. Enhancement of dramatic impact.
  5. Ease of staging.
  6. Eloquent simplicity of sentence structure.
  7. Preservation of degree continuity and chronology.
  8. Logical transition from one Degree to another.
  9. Preservation of ritual’s formal integrity.

The revisions introduce standardize slides and transparencies, as well as music!
According to early rituals, one of the passwords meant, “reunited to accomplish”, which means a gathering of Scottish Rite Masons assembled to confer degrees. We use the word “reunion” to mean a gathering of Scottish Rite Masons assembled to confer degrees. We encourage members to faithfully attend our meetings and reunions, in order to refresh our memories of wise philosophy.
Please mark your calendar and plan to attend the presentation of the Fourteenth Degree at our schedule meeting and dinner on 13 January 2009 and 15 through 32 Degrees on 20 and 21 February 2009. Dinner will be served on 20 February, breakfast and lunch will be served on 21 February and the Reunion will conclude with a formal banquet {including wives and friends} and capping and ring ceremonies.
We look forward to seeing you there.
My congratulations to the Fourth Degree Director and Cast for a job very well done!

Hal Leister, 32° Wise Master
