Brethren and Ladies:

I would like to congratulate Bro. Hal Leister, 32° KCCH, and his team on the success of the Mason of the Year Program presented by the San Jose Scottish Rite Bodies.  Thirteen (13) Masonic Lodges participated in the event, which was held in conjunction with the September Stated Meeting dinner.  Thanks also to the Knights of Saint Andrews for their hard work.
October is Reunion month for San Jose Scottish Rite with four sets of degree conferrals planned, starting with the 4° degree following our October Stated Meeting on Tuesday, October 12.  All of the degree teams are busy practicing for what I know will be an impressive series of events.  The 12th and 14th degrees are scheduled for Tuesday, October 19 and the balance of the Reunion will be held on Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23.  Please attend as many of the degrees as you can and also plan to bring your Lady to the Reunion Banquet following conferral of the 32° degree on the evening of Saturday, October 23.  Reservations are required.
The first San Jose Scottish Rite Golf Tournament with proceeds to benefit our Clinic is scheduled for Monday, October 18.  Details are available in this edition of The Rite Word and from our General Secretary.
Quick reminder:  On the afternoon of Saturday, October 2, the Santa Clara Valley Masonic Officers’ Association will be hosting a reception for the incoming Grand Master.  Tickets are available from the San Jose Lodge # 10.  I hope to see you there.

Durward C. Ayre
Venerable Master
