Brethren and Ladies:

October was a very busy month due to Fall Reunion activities.  Congratulations and welcome to 13 new Scottish Rite Masons:  in addition to initiating 12 Master Masons into San Jose Scottish Rite, we also had the pleasure of a courtesy candidate from Oakland.  Thanks to the Degree Directors and teams for their hard work as well as to the Knights of St. Andrews for lending their assistance at the capping and ring ceremony.  I would also like to commend those Lodge Ambassadors who worked diligently to recruit our new members.  Due to their efforts, combined with those of our Degree teams, we have gained 30 new members for San Jose Scottish Rite this year.
I encourage each of our new Scottish Rite members to get involved in Scottish Rite rituals and other activities and to take the Master Craftsman Course offer by the Supreme Council.  I’m sure that they will find, as I have, how rewarding it is to incorporate the teachings of our Masonic craft into one’s daily life.
The San Jose Scottish Rite Invitational Golf Tournament hosted by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company to benefit the San Jose Scottish Rite Children’s Language Disorders Clinic was a big success.  Everyone who participated, whether as a golfer or a volunteer, had a great time and many prizes were awarded to the players.  I would like to congratulate Hon. Bob Rowan, 32° KCCH, our General Secretary, for spearheading the event and Angela Athens, our office manager, and her team for the exceptional dinner, clinic displays and hospitality.  Also a big thank you to the Scottish Rite members who donated their time to help pull off this event.
On November 23 we are having another San Jose Scottish Rite Night of Instruction with festive Agape Dinner.  This is a formal affair sponsored by our Personal Representative, Ill. Robert E. Winter, 33°, and me.  Please plan to attend.
I would like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving with family and friends.  It is my hope that we will all share many more holidays together.
The San Jose Scottish Rite will again be hosting the San Jose Scottish Rite Clinic Children’s Christmas party.  I encourage everyone to attend to support our Clinic.  Please contact our office and see the Rite News for more information.
