Greetings from the Lodge of Perfection,

April is nearing ending and vacation planning is beginning.  May is officially the beginning of summer vacations.  If you travel, plan ahead, travel safely and return safely.
An important Federal Holiday comes around at the end of May.
Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday which occurs every year on the final Monday of May.  Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.  Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the War between the States to commemorate the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the War.  By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season
Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veterans Day.  Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving, while Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, living or dead
On Memorial Day the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly klowered to the half staff position where it remain until noon.  It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day.
The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all.
The Masons in the Grove, Outdoor degree and picnic lunch, is being scheduled for June 22nd.  The lodge room is located in Gilroy @ 3540 Hecker Pass Hwy in a Eucalyptus grove on property owned by one of our members family.  The degree will be conferred by members of the CA Masonic Posse for a Law Enforcement brother.  Plans are developing for this degree which will be in conjunction with St. John's Day.  All Master Masons are invited to attend.  Start time will be 0900 hrs.  Please help support your Blue Lodges by attending their functions.
The Spring Reunion is underway for 4 candidates and will culminate in the capping ceremony at the Stated Meeting on May 14th.  Have you attended the degrees?  A number of positions on the various degees are open as well as areas where assistance is needed in stage work, props, etc.  Consider volunteering.
Be safe in your travels and enjoy the summer.  Thank you for participating in the Scottish Rite.
