Brethren and Ladies:

By the time you read this message, San Jose Scottish Rite should have 16 new Scottish Rite Masons, who completed their 32° on May 1st, among our members. Welcome!  I am happy to report that this class is our largest in several years and would like to commend all San Jose Scottish Rite brethren, and especially our Lodge Ambassadors, for their exceptional work in talking up the Scottish Rite and Masonry at their Blue Lodges. Thanks to each of you for your efforts to grow our membership!
I would also like to offer special thanks to the Degree Directors and teams, who worked so hard to put on each of our degrees. Your “behind the scenes” efforts to prepare for Reunion activities showed in your exemplary ritual work.
Thanks to Ill. Robert Winter, 33°, Personal Representative, I was able to attend the recent Leadership Conference sponsored by the Supreme Council in New Orleans, Louisiana. While there I had the pleasure of meeting our Sovereign Grand Commander, Ill. Ronald Seale 33°, as well as the opportunity to interact with conference attendees from other Orients and Valleys.  I came away with some new ideas and a renewed faith in the strength of our Masonic Family. I was also surprised to find that I had met many of the Brethren in attendance in my previous life as Potentate of Asiya Shriners and enjoyed reconnecting with them.  The Leadership Conference served as an excellent reminder that in Masonry we are all working towards a common goal and can accomplish much, particularly if one does not mind who gets the credit.
Our Formal Night of Instruction and Agape Dinner are scheduled for the evening of May 18th. The Grand Secretary of The Grand Lodge of California, the Very Worshipful Allan Casalou, will be presenting a lecture entitled “The Entered Apprentice: A just and Upright Mason.” I look forward to seeing you there.

Durward C. Ayre, 32° KCCH
Venerable Master
