Brethren, Ladies and Friends,

A few weeks ago I received the DeMolay Active Legion of Honor at the Masonic Home in Union City.  Some of our members living there were able to attend and I had a nice time visiting with those old friends.  I would like to especially thank the members of the San Jose Scottish Rite that were part of the investiture team: Bob Rowan, Randy Downey, Ken Nagel, Ed Clarke and Jack Harris.
You have been hearing about our Nights of Instruction that Brother Cowden has organized this year.  Our final night is September 22, 2009 and, unlike the earlier ones, this one is open to all Master Masons.  This is a good opportunity to show your friends who are not Scottish Rite Masons what we are about.
A small item was mentioned at the last Night of Instruction but it is worth remembering when you talk to people about Freemasonry.  It is safe to say ours is the only fraternal organization that a college could teach courses in our literature.  The Nights of Instruction bear witness to the mountain of writings about Masonry that have been published in the centuries our fraternity has been in existance.
