Brethren and Ladies:

Have you heard of the AIDA FORMULA?  It stands for attracting ATTENTION, creating an INTEREST & DESIRE to be a 32° Mason and taking ACTION by getting out to the Craft Lodges to talk about the Scottish Rite.  San Jose Scottish Rite has done an excellent job with membership in 2010 by creating 30 new Scottish Rite Masons.  We can and should do more to increase community awareness and support.
I would like to share some thoughts with you on the subject of the ties that bind us together as Scottish Rite Masons.  They were sent to me recently by Ill. Marvin Greenwald, 33°, Director of Membership for the Orient of California.  “Our great and ancient Order binds us together with one sympathetic cord of affection.  The Fraternity breaks down those walls of prejudice and passion, building an altar of charity and forbearance, on which we may hereafter place our offerings of peace, unity and friendship.  There is no greater gift or honor than recruiting and then bestowing the 32nd degree, Master of the Royal Secret, upon a Master Mason.  Empires and principalities have crumbled and faded away, so that their names are no longer remembered among men.  Some philosophies laid in the utmost stretch of human reason, seeming to defy the severest scrutiny of truth, have been dispersed like visions of the finest fancy before the light of morn, with scarce a recollection of their existence.  That which partakes of earth is earthy and perishes, but that which partakes of the spirit is spiritual; and with it immortal.  May we not then well draw an inference of the spiritual and immortal essence of our beloved Fraternity from the stability if its duration?”
With dedication and duty we must advance daily to fulfill our obligation and duty to the growth of this great Fraternity of ours.  We must constantly be aware that the destiny of our great Fraternity is in our hands.
Some of you are may not be aware of the fact that we hold our weekly “Kitchen Cabinet” meeting from 10 AM -12 noon on Tuesdays.  In additional there is our monthly “Council of Masters” meeting on the first Saturday of each month from 9 AM – 12 noon.  The purpose of these meetings is to find ways of improving our Scottish Rite and developing new interest in our Fraternity among the Brethren.  You are welcome to attend and encouraged to bring your ideas!
I would like to wish each of you and your families a wonderful holiday season.  It is my sincere hope that we will share many more holidays together in friendship and fellowship.
The San Jose Scottish Rite Bodies will again be hosting the San Jose Scottish Rite Clinic Children’s Christmas party on December 4th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.  I encourage everyone to attend to support our Clinic.
