Brethren and Ladies:

Our July 13th Stated Meeting and Annual BBQ honoring Asiya Shiners was a great success with over 100 people, including 40 Shiners, in attendance.  Asiya’s Potentate, Illustrious Sir Gordon Markley introduced his Divan members and reminded us that the Shriners’ Hospitals for Children have been tied to the  philanthropic work of The Scottish Rite since the start in that Scottish Rite first had a hospital for crippled children, founded in Decatur, Georgia in 1919, with a similar mission to the work that Shriners fund today.  I am also happy to report that Illustrious Sir Gordon has rejoined San Jose Scottish Rite Bodies.
At the BBQ we were also honored to be visited by Ill. Len Froomin, 33°, Master of Kadosh & Clinic  Director, and his Lady Susan, representing the Valley of San Francisco, as well as several other brethren from San Francisco Scottish Rite. All of us enjoyed the BBQ immensely. Special thanks to Angela Athans, who did an exceptional job with the arrangements and dinner.
Looking ahead on the calendar, our Master Craftsman Discussion Group will meet on September 21st at 7:00 PM in the Library.  Also in September, the Grand Lodge Annual Communication starts on September 24th and runs through September 26th.
Our Fall Re-Union is coming in October.  You’ll need to get your candidates signed up in September so that our General
Secretary has time to process the paperwork for voting prior to the October 12th Stated Meeting.  Let’s all do our part to sign up more than the 16 new Scottish Rite Masons we initiated in the Spring.
Finally, I would like to congratulate Bro. Richard Meyers, 32° KCCH, on his appointment as Assistant Personal Reprehensive for San Jose Scottish Rite Bodies.  I look forward to continuing to work with Bro. Meyers to improve the health and membership participation in San Jose Scottish Rite Bodies.

Durward C. Ayre 32° KCCH
Venerable Master
