Brethren - Reflecting on the first material gifts we receive in Masonry; the lambskin apron and, most importantly, the Holy Book of our Faith; Brother Ray Faulkner, deceased, a member of Pacific Grove Lodge #331 and a Mason for 75 years, developed the following presentation.

Masonic Bible Presentation

“My Brother,
I have been assigned the duty of calling your attention to some of the things which pertain to the Book of Holy Writings lying open upon our altar.
It is open when the lodge is open, and a Masonic Lodge can perform work only when it is in its proper place on this altar. It is one of the three Great Lights in Masonry, and serves as the rule and guide of our Faith--faith in God, faith in mankind, and faith in ourselves. Upon the teaching of such Sacred Scriptures rests the foundation of our Fraternity, and all Masons are aware of the important part it has in the guidance of our craft.
From the altar it casts its light upon the East, the West, and the South. It lies open for all to read, and for each one to interpret for himself. In it may be found the moral principles for the uplifting of a righteous life, and to Masons the Bible is supreme. While Masonry is not a religion, it teaches that every man should worship God according to his own conscience, and should grant to every other person the same privilege. It is not intolerant of any religious faith, nor is it adverse to one who believes in no Deity nor one who does not have the Book of Law to guide him. Masonry believes in the existence of a Supreme Being, and so anyone who does not believe in God must remain outside its doors. I have been asked to present this Sacred Volume of Holy Writings to you from (insert your lodge name and number)
It is a supreme record of mans experience and faith. It is the trestleboard to character building—that important work to which you have now dedicated yourself. When the lodge has been closed, it will be yours to take and to study, and from which to learn. Let it be your teacher, your guide, and your friend. And as the years pass, the Word of God will become a spiritual inspiration. It will strengthen the vows you have taken upon it. It will teach you what it means to be a Mason.
May this Holy Book be the rule and guide of your footsteps through life. May it help to protect you against the negative influences of this world and so fill your mind with love that, when your work on Earth is finished, your brethren might proudly say, "He was a Mason".
Note: Brother Ray would be most pleased to have every Blue Lodge adopt this Most Masonic Presentation. The California Masonic Posse already has and I trust that you will also, because spiritual growth is the goal of all human aspiration. Symbols that help us grow are precious things, for they open doors to life everlasting. Lets be a Mason everyday — not only on Tuesday nights. For its being a Mason all the while that guides our craft aright. Let us be grateful to people who make us happy. They are charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.
