Brethren and Ladies

So as we come into the month of November, we should remember that Election Day in the United States falls on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of this month. Veterans Day is celebrated on November 11 and Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of the month.
So lets talk about the election coming up….uhhh…never mind, let’s not.  J  But please be sure you get out and vote.  It is a privilege and a duty that many people in the world do not have.  Don’t waste the opportunity to exercise such an important freedom.
I want to again remind you that there was a shift in the scheduled times for putting on the Scottish Rite Degrees.  Look for details elsewhere in this newsletter.  And please show up to support our new initiates and the brethren involved in the degree work.
The Grand Lodge of California is planning a “Veterans Day Observance” on November 11th, from 11:00 AM until noon at the California Masonic Memorial Temple in San Francisco.  This promises to be an outstanding event and I encourage all of you that can attend to do so.  Entered Apprentices, Fellow Crafts, Master Masons, their ladies, families and friends are all welcome to attend.  The dress is business suit for men and Dress or Pant Suits for the ladies.
I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving and that you remember its purpose.  E.P. Powell once said, “Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men, but be careful that you do not take the day and leave out the gratitude.”  We have much to be thankful for, but let us also see if, as individuals, we can do something at this time to make others thankful.  Jeremy Taylor once said, “God is pleased with no music below so much as with the thanksgiving songs of relieved widows and supported orphans; of rejoicing, comforted, and thankful persons.”  See you at the next meeting!
