Brethren and Ladies

Wow…July already!  Thanks for all the positive feedback on the June meeting and dinner.  The food was excellent and it was great to view some of the old pictures from the Scottish Rite archives.  It was also very rewarding to have our Scholarship winner, Hanna, present and able to address the members and ladies.  Again, an example of Scottish Rite making a difference in the world.
I also would like to thank the Scottish Rite Foundation, in partnership with the Blue Lodges of Santa Clara Valley, for their willingness to underwrite a portion of the costs of putting on the Masonic Student Assistance Program (MSAP) in our own area.  This innovative outreach program is a free three-day workshop for teachers, administrators, counselors, nurses, and other school personnel who interact regularly with students. Its purpose is to help educators identify at-risk students and provide guidance so that the students redirect their lives in positive ways. With early intervention, these students have a greater chance of staying in school and becoming productive members of society.  This program has “set the standard” and is being imitated in other states.  This highly acclaimed Masonic Student Assistance Program has trained over 4,000 teachers and educators statewide and has helped more than 40,000 California children/students.
As a means to make it more accessible and to reach teachers in a given area, the California Masonic Foundation is endeavoring to put on this course in local areas.  To present this opportunity to teachers in our own area, and to make a difference in lives of our local youth, the Scottish Rite Foundation is working with the Blue Lodges in Santa Clara Valley to put this on.  (Again, an example of Scottish Rite making a difference.)
As you all know, Independence Day, July 4, celebrating the Continental Congress adopting the Declaration of Independence, is rapidly approaching.  So what are you doing to celebrate?  Might I suggest that you join us at our Barbeque here at Scottish Rite on July 8th.  The dress is casual, the food will be first-rate, and an enjoyable time is assured!
French novelist, Anatole France once said, “When a thing has been said and well, have no scruple. Take it and copy it.”  So in that spirit I quote the following as said by motivational speaker Tom Krause,
“Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”
Scottish Rite will provide the right words, the opportunity for right action, and the building of your character.  Come down and join us…you are destined for a bright future if you do.  See you at the barbeque!!
