Brethren All:

So we have reached the end of another year and begin again.  We have seen a number of changes this year and I’m confident that those of you who have participated have enjoyed those changes.
The re-vamp of our Council of Masters to an “All Officers Council” has created a much more active line of officers and has resulted in more energy by most Officers.  They were especially helpful in contacting our membership who were delinquent in their dues.
Combining the Grand Master’s Reception with a Festive Board proved a resounding success, and we look forward to repeating that effort in 2012 and please look forward to even more activity.
Owing to our much improved ritual, the Spring and Fall Reunions were very successful and some of our new members have begun to participate in Scottish Rite activities.
In addition, we have had a number of re-instatements of former members and we have several other inquiries pending.  Personally, I love to process applications for re-instatement or re-affiliation.  Each one improves my day.
It has been a pleasure to work with the Officers for 2011.  Their unselfish efforts on behalf of San Jose Scottish Rite made the Secretary’s job much easier.  Thanks to all!
Most likely, the economy and the tight money conditions created the substantially reduced donation level to support out Clinic.  We will continue to make donation requests of our membership because that is our primary philanthropy.  Please help as best you can and with as much as you can.  Several sizable bequests received in 2011 made up most of the shortfall, but we can not continually count on that.  If you are a member of a service club like the Kiwanis or Rotary Clubs, we do have a presentation that can explain our clinic and Childrens’ Language Disorders, and we are available for a guest speaker program.  Contact me.  We made several such presentations in 2011.
I look forward to working with our Officers for 2012, who will soon be installed in their respective offices.  I hope you can attend the installation on January 31st.

Fraternally,
Robert D. Rowan, Jr.
General Secretary
