A new year is now in the works and changes come with each passing day.
Ill. Winter has tendered his resignation and Ill. Ken Nagel, 33º has accepted his appointment as the personal representative of the S.G.I.G. in California.  One will be missed and another will be welcomed.
I offer my personal thanks to Ill. Winter for his confidence in recommending my appointment to the position of General Secretary and I appreciate his firm and constant guidance for the direction of  the Valley of San Jose.  We have, I hope, begun to make a difference not only in the operations of the Valley, but also in the attendance of our members at our functions.  Thank you Bro. Bob for all your efforts and accomplishments.  You will be missed by your brethren and we wish you and Hazel the very best in your new “digs”.
To Ill. Brother Nagel, we welcome you most heartily to  your new responsibility as “PR” and we are looking forward to your term of service!
Personally, I will do all in my power to support your efforts to improve the San Jose Scottish Rite.  Welcome aboard!

Having just returned from a very interesting trip through the Panama Canal, I want to share with you some of the experiences that Sandy and I had on the trip.
The first was being seated at our dinner table with a former Grand Lodge Division 1 Inspector from Crescent City and his wife, with whom we enjoyed many pleasant conversations.
The second was the discovery of a Masonic Lodge in Cartagena, Columbia.  Ask me more about it and I will have more information than you wish to have.  The trip was great but I missed being here for our Christmas events.
Robert D. Rowan, Jr.
General Secretary
