From the Secretaries Table (December, 2012)

George Burns once remarked, “You can’t help getting older. But you don’t have to get old.”
Well said.  Indeed, a lot can help keep us young  …. Staying physidally active, enjoying family gatherings, serving in our neighborhoods, communities and churches, and of course being active in Scottish Rite.
Many of these things mirror the kinds of opportunities that Masonry and Scottish Rite offered you a lifetime ago when you became a member.
From our humble beginnings, we have grown older, but certainly not “old”.  Today’s San Jose Scottish Rite Foundation is addressing emerging needs through its hallmark Rite Care Program, scholarships and other charitable activities.
Take a moment before the month ends to make a contribution to support our Clinic.  Any amount you can afford will help.  It takes over $200,000 to open those doors and provide the services we provide.  With approximately 900 members, you can do the math if we needed to support its operation only from the donations of our members.  Luckily, a number of members long passed, prepared endowed funds to assist, but we still need your support.  Please do what you can.

Fraternally,
Bob Rowan,
General Secretary
