From the Personal Representative (February, 2009)

The New Year is starting with the expected level of energy and enthusiasm and I commend the new officers for their dedication and spirit, and thank the outgoing officers for the leadership they have provided over the past year.
As I have discussed over the past few months, the size of the four bodies has been shrunk to a more manageable number of five per body. I note with some amusement that after this idea was discussed at one of our joint meetings of the Personal Representatives for the northern part of the state that several of the other valleys have used this same model to handle what had been a rather cumbersome way of doing business. We have managed the reduction with very little inconvenience, through attrition and the changing of a couple of officers from one body to another to take care of vacancies. I think the plan will be much more workable, as the officers will now have identifiable duties that are comparable between all four bodies.
Our clubs are active and will be (or have already been) holding their installations. Illustrious Roger Bibb, our Club Liaison Officer and I will be doing the installation of the club officers. My compliments to the club members for their continued interest in our order.
Thanks to the efforts of Brother Chuck Davidson, we have been working toward setting up a system to work with San Jose State University School of Library Science to try to get our vast library in order. We find, however, that the job is really overwhelming and with almost five thousand volumes to catalogue, we hardly know where to start. We were referred to a firm that is in the business of organizing libraries, but the price they quoted us for cataloguing our collection was staggering, and it looks as though we’ll have to reexamine our options.
We are going to try again to start up the Friday Lunch Bunch, for February 13. Please make reservations with Mary Lou, early enough for us to prepare for the event. As this lunch falls on the day before Valentines Day, we thought we might invite sweethearts, JUST THIS ONCE. The price will again be just five dollars, so come on down, if you can. The lunch is fun for all, with good food, good company, and no particular business to concern ourselves with.

Sincerely and fraternally,

Bob Winter - Personal representative of the Deputy of the Supreme Council in California
