From the Personal Representative (February, 2008)

There are a couple of brothers in our midst that the membership should be critically aware of and on guard that they don’t lead us all astray. Our Director of Ceremonies, Hal Leister, 32° and Assistant Director of Ceremonies, Chuck Cowden, 32° have to be watched continually or they’re going to get us into trouble. <GRIN>
The latest plot these two have hatched is to invite Ill. Brother Ernie Borgnine, 33° to our next reunion, feature him as keynote speaker at our closing banquet, and name the reunion in his honor. To make matters worse, they pressured me into going along with the scheme, and I’ve sent off a letter to Bro. Ernie inviting him to the event and we will now await his pleasure.
Part of the reason I am bringing this matter to the attention of the members is not just to be on guard against an attempt by Brothers Hal and Chuck to get us into inextricable straights, but to be on the lookout for candidates to take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of a class that has for it’s namesake a living legend. Ill. Bro Ernie won an Oscar for his 1955 starring role in “Marty”, and was recently a nominee for the Golden Globe award for the Hallmark production of “A Grandpa for Christmas”.
While nothing is assured as to his joining us on April 12I am making this announcement now so that all who are able may enlist their candidates for this memorable event and for each of us to make our reservations as early as possible.
The innovations Brothers Hal and Chuck have demonstrated are an example of their sincere desire to make our reunions as en-joyable and as memorable as possible. Keep up the good work my Brothers !

Fraternally,

Bob Winter - Personal representative of the Deputy of the Supreme Council in California

You may be aware that our building was without heat for several weeks . The 25 + years that the old boiler has served us reached “the end of its earthly toils”. We thought that you might be interested in some pictures of the boiler replacement project. Kudos to our staff for working in very cold conditions with-out any complaint during that difficult time !

Fraternally,

Bob Winter - Personal representative of the Deputy of the Supreme Council in California
