Brethren,

It was 6:30 in the later part of a very scorching July as I made my way up the narrow, winding road to my scheduled destination.  As I made the last turn, I found myself in a parking lot filled beyond its capacity. Even the nearby road was inundated with vehicles of every make, shape, and model.  I found a niche in which to stow my car and made my way to the restaurant where I had told my guests that we would meet and found the place packed with from wall to wall with people trying to get out of the heat.
Apparently, this is the neighborhood watering hole where all the locals come to get a cool drink before heading home after a day at work.
I wondered if I had made a mistake.  Maybe I bit off more than I could chew. Only time and patience. would answer those questions since my guests had not started to arrive.
By 7:15, my guests had arrived and we found ourselves milling around the back patio deck, trying to find a little shade from the sun. We were assured that we would be seated and attended to by 7:30. Their promise was kept. We were seated and our orders were taken.
As we waited for our dinners to arrive, I noticed that the local patronage was slowly departing and the evening was cooling down. The sun was starting to sink into the horizon. People with cameras came out of the restaurant to patio deck and started taking pictures of the beautiful colors created by the setting sun and some of the city lights which were beginning to come on.  I also noticed that the tone of voice as well as the facial expression had changed to a friendlier atmosphere.
Our dinners were served. The lights of the city were all coming on and looked like diamonds in the dark. Talk was good all-around as if the Supreme Architect of the Universe had planned it all and to top it all off, a super bright full moon appeared right over our gathering. I look around at all the guests and saw only smiling faces. If anything was not right this night, I know that I would be forgiven, for I was with my family “SCOTTISH RITE MASONS”.
Thank you all for making this event a very special night for me.
Be well and GOD BLESS YOU ALL !

Will Montoya,
Commander, Council of Kadosh
