For the Ladies (September, 2008)

September is here, school has started and many of us celebrated Labor Day with one of the last picnics of the year.
I want to thank the ladies who came and participated in the discussion at the August meeting.  We talked about holding some kind of activity for the ladies while the men are taking part in the Reunion.  At this point in time I am not sure if we are going to be able to make that work at the October reunion.  I will be meeting with Chuck Cowden and Hal Leister to talk about the logistics and time schedule.  I will have more details by the September 9th meeting.
There is going to be a Christmas Party for the children at the Scottish Rite Speech and Language Clinic.  It will be held on the first Saturday in December.  The ladies will be taking part in some kind of the preparation for the party and hopefully some of us can be at the center on the day of the party and to help make it a really special event for the children.
I was recently asked why I go to those “dinners and activities” with Bud.  I explained that I liked supporting Bud and then I found myself saying, and meaning, that I also enjoyed the time I got to visit with some very special ladies.  I would not see, talk to or get to know most of these ladies if I didn’t attend these events.  Over time I feel like I have gotten to know some of you fairly well.  You have become a special part of my life, even if we only see each other one evening a month.  An Anonymous author wrote, “Our journeys through life are brightened by the acts of kindness and caring of the friends we make along the way”.
Thank you.  Hope to see you on September 9th.

God bless,
