For the Ladies (October, 2008)

I hope you are enjoying the beginning of autumn as the leaves start turning into all those brilliant fall colors.  When I was a little girl my favorite part of this season was running through and jumping into the large pile of leaves.  Although I am sure my Dad did not appreciate the game, it was such great fun.   It is also the time of ghosts, goblins and the anticipation of children as they dream about Halloween treats and what wonderful creatures they will get to be.  This is also a time of transition from BBQs and summer swim parties to hot cider and family gatherings.
This time of year also brings transition within the Masonic Family.  In late September many of our members were in San Francisco attending the California Grand Lodge activities and the Installation of their new officers.  It was the passing of the baton from the old to the new; an ending, a beginning and at the same time a continuation of what is good.  It is a ritual that will be take place in many forms over the next couple of months as many of the concordant bodies hold their annual sessions and installations of new leadership.  It can also be an opportunity to gather with friends and share some special times and memories.  I encourage you ladies to take the opportunity to share in these events with your husbands and loved ones, to take the time to build some new memories and to visit with old friends.
Remember to:
Take Time To Laugh ... it is the music of the soul.
Take Time To Work ... it is the price of success.
Take Time To Think ... it is the source of power.
Take Time To Play ... it is the secret of perpetual youth.
Take Time To Read The Word ... it is the foundation of wisdom.
Take Time To Pray ... it is the greatest power on earth.
Take Time To Worship ... it is the highway to reverence.
Take Time To Be Friendly ... it is the road to happiness.
Take Time To Dream ...  it is hitching your wagon to a star.
Take Time To Give ... it is too short a day to be selfish.
Take Time To Love And Be Loved ... it is a God-given privilege.
I will not be able to attend the October 14th meeting.  I will be at the Grand Chapter Sessions for Eastern Star in Fresno, CA.   I will be passing the baton as I turn over the responsibilities of Deputy of District #23 to another lady.  I will miss my time with each of you this month and I look forward to seeing you all at our November meeting when I will be able to bring my report about the Children’s Christmas party.

God bless,
Susan
