In the eyes of our Eternal Grand Master of the Universe, who comprehends fully the hearts of men, none of us are wholly righteous in his sight; yet he forgives us our sins. We pray that he purifies us and that we should not rebuke others. May he remove from our souls vanity, selfishness and thoughtlessness. May we follow our degrees in order that He looks favorably upon us. May we also do justice, love mercy and cause anger to cease and desist!
It is a maxim that deeds speak louder than words. Words may be false, but deeds speak the truth. Good deeds need no other praise other than the acts themselves.  They reflect their own resplendence in the moral universe like the sun in the physical. I know it is said that "no good deed shall go unpunished." However, we Scottish Rite Masons say that to be a good man and true in Masonry, is the chief good. For, as it has been said, "If a man should lay down, as the chief good, that which has no connection with virtue, and measure it by his own interest and not according to its moral merit, if such a man shall act consistently with his own  principles, and is not influenced by the goodness of his heart, he can neither cultivate friendship, justice or generosity."
We should all strive to lead by good deeds, not harsh words, remembering that:
"A soft answer turneth away wrath
But a harsh word stirs up anger."  Proverbs 15:1
