Joshua is a sweet and energetic 4 year old boy who comes to our clinic twice a week for speech and language therapy. He was referred to our clinic by his school district as he had a limited vocabulary, was hard to understand, and experienced frustration as he was not able to be understood.
When Joshua began treatment at this clinic it was difficult for him to produce a variety of sounds and three syllable words. He left off many sounds in clusters, such as producing “top” for “stop.” In addition, he struggled to answer “what” and “which” questions. Joshua is now able to produce most three syllable words and cluster sounds in short phrases. He continues to need support with expanding his vocabulary and  producing /l/ in phrases.
According to his Mother, “My experiences with the Scottish Rite Clinic have been wonderful. Joshua has made such significant progress since beginning the Clinic in August 2011. He is so much easier to understand, and doesn’t get frustrated,” with speaking any longer. His parents noted, “Our son is a different child since beginning the Scottish Rite Clinic, as he engages with family and activities so much more. The most rewarding part of receiving services at the Scottish Rite Clinic is to see our child progress with speaking and become more sure of himself. He loves going to see and work with Ms. Jenna, as she is a very good speech therapist who is very patient. The Scottish Rite Clinic really takes time to ensure a child is getting proper speech therapy treatment. We are very thankful to Ms. Jenna and the Scottish Rite for helping our son.”
