The clinic is very fortunate to have gained a clinician during the month of September.  Rachel Sense is our newest speech-language pathologist.  She is highly skilled and dynamic in her interaction with the clients and parents!  As a result of this additional staffing the clinic is now serving 59 children, and 3 more are scheduled for weekly treatment beginning in October.  This third caseload, along with a systematic updating of some old contacts on the waiting list, has significantly decreased the number of children waiting for therapy.  The clinic waiting list is now at 8.  (Last month the count was 30.)
The clinic recently received a letter from San Jose State University expressing appreciation for supervising a graduate student clinician this past summer.  The following is an excerpt from that letter:
“…In our efforts to help alleviate the dire shortage of SLPs, we are currently graduating approximately 40 local students per year… A crucial part of those efforts is the high quality placement you provide.  We are deeply grateful for your willingness and enthusiasm in helping meet this challenge, and hope you are able to continue in this important work.  It is a pleasure working with you…” - Jean Jackson, M.A. CCC-SLP, Extern Supervisor for San Jose State University
