Clinic Director's Message (September, 2010)

Our San Jose Scottish Rite Children’s Language Disorders Clinic helped 56 children in July and completed over 234 treatment hours.  Three children met their treatment goals and were discharged, which means that three new children from the waiting list were able to start treatment.  We expect to be able to help more children beginning in September because our summer therapy programs will be ending.  Several families with children on our waiting list have already been contacted by the clinicians to fill the anticipated openings.
I would like to thank the Monterey Scottish Rite Club for their recent generous donation to our clinic.  We have also received donations of toys from parents, gifts that are always appreciated. In addition, a brand new refrigerator was recently donated by Dr. Caroline Ayre.  All donations from parents and members of our Masonic Family are greatly appreciated and tax deductible.
I am happy to report that in August the Foundation Board agreed to the proposal to purchase up-to-date testing and training materials for the Clinic at a cost of approximately $2300.  The purchases will be made in September.
I am still looking for volunteers, with the Foundation’s blessing, to do some additional work such as painting to spruce up the clinic.  The clinic could also use new set of vertical blinds.  If you are interested in helping with this project and/or donating some much needed items, please contact me.

Respectfully,
Durward C. Ayre  - Clinic Director
