Clinic Director's Message (October, 2010)

Our San Jose Scottish Rite Children’s Language Disorders Clinic helped 52 children in August, completing over 218 treatment hours.  Ten children were discharged secondary to meeting their treatment goals or due to schedule conflicts.  Six children were added to the caseload, thus far, with more additions expected.  I am happy to report that our waiting list has been reduced to 77 children from last months’ total of 95. I would like to personally thank our clinicians, Rachel and Angela for continuing to do an exceptional job of caring for our children.  It is my hope  that we will be able to hire another clinician towards the end of this calendar year.
I am pleased to report that at our September Foundation Board meeting the General Secretary indicated that he had prepared purchase orders for all of the Clinic training and therapeutic materials that had been previously approved for purchase.  By the time you read this message, we should have received most, if not all, of the materials requested.
I am still looking for volunteers, with the Foundation’s blessing, to do some additional work such as painting to spruce up the clinic.  The clinic could also use new set of vertical blinds.  If you are interested in helping with this project and/or donating some needed items, please contact me.

Respectfully,
Durward C. Ayre  Clinic Director
