Clinic Director's Message (January, 2011)

Our San Jose Scottish Rite Children’s Language Disorders Clinic helped 55 children in November, completing over 257 treatment hours, including eight screenings.  We now have 102 children on that list, awaiting our help.
I am happy to report that our Children’s Language Disorders Clinic Christmas Party was a huge success.  Children and parents alike had a great time with Santa.  His elves, Angela Athens and her cousin, Dina Rizos-Mollo, did a beautiful job decorating the dining area.  They also helped to ensure that food and toys were available through the very end of the party so that no child was disappointed.  A large number of families were in attendance and we received many compliments.  The jumping house and holiday movies on the TV/DVD player, both new additions this year, were crowd pleasers as were the traditional arts and crafts.  My thanks also to the Rainbow Girls for their assistance at the arts and crafts tables and to Brother Bob Laws for serving as Santa’s photographer.  Our clinicians, Rachel Sense and Angela Stephan, were also able to come and enjoy the festivities.
As I have mentioned before, we are continuing to explore avenues in hopes that we will soon be able to increase our clinician staff and help more kids.  Your donations are always greatly appreciated and help to reduce the financial burden on our clinic.
On behalf of the Clinic Staff, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your generous donations to the clinic and wish you and your families a happy and healthy 2011.
Respectfully,

Durward C. Ayre
Clinic Director
