From the Clinic (October, 2007)

My husband and I began taking our son J. to the Scottish Rite Speech Clinic in San Jose, CA in August 2006. At that time our then 3 year old son had exactly ten intelligible words. The cause of his severe speech delay was a still mystery, and his prognosis was as unclear as his articulation.

After some intensive speech sessions with the SLP we were assigned (Michelle Crawford), we discovered that J. has developmental dyspraxia. Knowing that has helped Michelle use the right therapeutic tools to start correcting J.'s speech issues.

After a very short time we began to see some amazing changes in our son. As his articulation began clearing up, his self-confidence soared. As his vocabulary increased, his self-esteem skyrocketed. He had never been able to make friends before, but now his social circle began expanding and he is turning into a social butterfly--he is turning five in October and has asked to invite 35 children to his party!

We firmly believe that Michelle and the Scottish Rite Speech Clinic have done what J.'s neurologist and other therapists could not. They figured out what was wrong, they set out immediately to correct it, and in the process did something miraculous:They helped free the happy, loving, talkative little boy that had been locked up behind the wall put up by dyspraxia. That wall is being broken down, and we are forever grateful.

With love and gratitude,

N. K.
